Ohio Herb Center Celebrates Holiday Traditions with Santa

This December, as part of a Christmas tradition, Santa is visiting the Ohio Herb Education Center, located in the historic Nafzger-Miller House at 110 Mill St. in the Creekside district of Gahanna.

You and your loved ones are invited to join in a celebration with Santa in the richly decorated parlor, in the hope that you will make this event part of your own family tradition! Meet Santa in this warm setting, and enjoy a more relaxed holiday experience. Photos with Santa will be available for purchase.

To encourage families to slow down and share the moment with each other, Santa also will be hosting a variety of traditional crafts during his visit. Everyone can participate in making a hot chocolate mix from scratch, preparing a peppermint footbath or creating sugar plum dream pillows.

Enjoy the cold weather tradition of warming up with a mug of steaming hot chocolate. Children and adults can participate in making their own mix from scratch, then take it home to brew up and enjoy all winter long.

Many of the scents of the holidays also help you relax and unwind. Peppermint foot scrub soothes tired feet and offers aromatherapy relaxation. (Pssst … use this activity to create a gift especially for Mom!)

Herbal sachet dream pillows combine aromas and carry special meaning. Rose petals represent grace and joy, while lavender represents devotion. These small fragrant pillows help to encourage the sweetest of holiday dreams.

“Historically, herbs were a vital part of running a traditional household and they were particularly prominent at the holidays,” said Herb Center manager, Brooke Sackenheim. “Their memorable scents and tastes made the celebrations that much richer.”
