Gahanna is living up to its “Herb Capital of Ohio” brand, especially this coming weekend. Consider this. In 2014, there were an estimated 1,500 visitors to Herb Day—when it rained most of the day. Organizers decided it was time to build on this love for herbs with a new preview event.
An Herbal Affair: A Night to Support the Herb Center is Friday, May 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the Ohio Herb Education Center, 110 Mill St. It’s an evening for herb enthusiasts to mingle, enjoy herbal infused beer from Pigskin Brewing Company, mead (wine made from locally sourced honey) from Brothers Drake, wine from Wyandotte Winery and liqueur from Tessora, headquartered in nearby New Albany. Representatives from each of these local businesses will be on-hand to explain how their drinks are made and what, besides being local, makes them so special. (We think it’s the herbs, but find out straight from the source!)
Food will be provided by the Little Eater from the North Market in Columbus. Wyandotte Winery will be providing their famous wine cakes for dessert.
Admission is $30 per person through today (May 6) or $35 per person at the door, as space permits. Call 614/342-4380 to register.
BONUS: Take advantage of the SpringHill Suites Columbus Airport Gahanna Herb Day Getaway package (May 8-9) and enjoy complimentary admission to the VIP Herbal Affair Preview Night (and plant sale), special herbal bath amenities, breakfast AND shuttle service to/from the events. Call 614/501.4770 to book your Herbal Getaway NOW.
